YORKTOWN, NY (February 16, 2025) – The Yorktown Democratic Committee (YDC) has unanimously endorsed a strong slate of Democratic candidates for the upcoming 2025 elections, including candidates for Town Supervisor, Town Council, County Legislature, and Town Justice.
The Committee’s Election District Leaders have endorsed County Legislators Vedat Gashi and Colin Smith in their re-election bids. Both legislators have demonstrated their commitment to serving Westchester residents through their work on the County Board.
For the town-level positions, the Committee has endorsed Jann Mirchandani for Town Supervisor, along with Lanny Gilbert and Michael Hickins for Town Council seats. These candidates bring extensive experience and a deep understanding of Yorktown’s needs to their respective races.
“Our endorsed candidates have proven track records of public service and a deep commitment to our community’s values,” said Peter Cleary, Acting Chair of the Yorktown Democratic Committee. “Their unanimous endorsements reflect the confidence our committee has in their ability to serve the people of Yorktown and Westchester County.”
The Committee also endorsed Town Justice Aviah Cohen-Pierson for re-election. During her tenure, Justice Cohen-Pierson has demonstrated her dedication to upholding the law with fairness and integrity, earning the respect of the legal community and Yorktown residents alike.
All endorsements were made unanimously by the YDC’s Election District Leaders, following the Committee’s established bylaws and procedures for candidate selection.
